These ought to be two separate issues.
    1) You want the divorce and
    2) He wants to make sure he can see yours and his child.
I'm gussing he's concerned that if the divorce is finalized, he won't be able to see the child. It ought to be important that the child gets to see his/her father, even if he's in prison. Come to an agreement that benefits the child,( time with you, time with him) even if divorce must occur. He/she did not ask to be brought into this, and doing the right thing now will produce better peace if not now, later.
Last, please don't engage the child in your and his "I'm right, and the other is wrong" contest.

unfortunatley half the question was cut off. he's got 11 years in prison, has been there since I was pregnant for murder. he has never met my child. and as far as her visiting it's a 7 hour drive. She is 10 yrs old. he's never asked to see her until i filed for divorce.
