  • more than one.
  • We do in my family. Everyone gets one parent gift, and it is PJs. At this point kids are put to bed, and adults are able to be up and enjoy the rest of the evening.
  • During my stepfather's rule of the family, we used to open them all on Christmas Eve. Now that that chapter of my life is over, I'm changing that tradition. I rather like the idea of waiting until morning, like we did when I was a kid.
  • It's a tradition in Scandinavia to open the gift on Christmas Eve. in fact, I think it's only the english speaking countries who open them the morning after. so, if a chocolate calendar is produced in say, Germany, it only has 24 doors - it's like that alot of places.

  • As a kid me and my sister got to open one present on Christmas eve, we got to choose which one but we had to coose the same one because we very rarely got something differnt. We always got the same things and if we open two differnt ones it would be like opening two because we would know what the other one was! Then open the rest Christmas morning!
  • Christmas morning.
  • 1 present Christmas Eve before Mass, the rest Christmas Morning
  • You know, this is one aspect of married life with my wife that sometimes gets on my nerves. When I was growing up, Christmas Eve was the night us kids SWORE we'd stay up all night long if we had to in order to see Santa. Heck, I even slept under the Christmas tree one year trying that. Never worked. And Christmas day we ALL got up early, never needed an alarm no matter how late we stayed up. And as soon as we came out we could see all the extra Christmas presents afound the tree. And it was a festive event, shredded paper flying everywhere, games, clothes, books coming out and the rest of the day was spent playing with whatever we had gotten. NOW, Christmas is this orchestrated event where the presents don't get opened until much later in the day, after dinner even, sometimes. And though cameras were a part of the festivities at times when I was a kid, it now seems like everything has to wait until there is at least one camers, sometimes several, poised to take pictures of most everything being opened. Gotta pose by your stocking for your picture first, for example. Heck there have been some years where some, if not a lot, of presents weren't opened until the next day. My opinion is that as soon as the kids get up, the festivities should commence! They've been waiting for months for this moment. But I guess the reason behind it is my wife is NOT a morning person. At all. Getting up early in the morning is something she pretty much despises. I guess I really don't mind it, it's just different. And the kids have their fun, which is what's really important.
