The number that you ask them to cut it into. For most pizza places, that seems to be either 10 or 12 for a large pizza. But you can request any even number of slices.

For national chains you can pretty much count on a 14" pizza cut into 10 slices. Many times local chains will be different. As mentioned they will oblige if you want something different. Just remember they won't want to do it. Anything out of the ordinary is a hassle, and in this case you're not even paying anything for it. Above all, remember: Tip your pizza man!

Depends on where you get your pizza at. At Round Table in 1981 a large pizza gave you 16 slices. Round Table in Solvang, CA.
