I have a nephew who was emancipated by the courts in Michigan at age 14 meaning he essentially divorced his mother and the courts let him stay with other relatives.
I was raised by my Grandparents in Michigan from age 7 and they wanted to adopt me at age 13, My real parents fought the adoption in court and after listening to both my parents and grandparents the judge took me into his chambers and asked me personally who I wanted to live with.
    I told him my grandparents.
He returned to the courtroom and granted my grandparents the adoption.
My real parents have never forgiven me for that.
The judge did let me make the final decision though at age 13.

Unfortunately, it's 18 to decide where to live. However, if you're 16 or 17, they'll most likely let you live where you like as long as the parent is fit.

18, of course, you are not technically a child anymore.

Not sure if it's the same in Michigan as it is here in Texas but a child can decide at age 12 here.
