  • Being dyslexia is a good reason to give up your dreams. ....................NOT!!! You may have to work harder to attain your dream, but you should not just give up. There are special classes, therapies and what not that help dyslexics get around the hassles and issues of their own reading issues. Seek out those programs, apply them and overcome your minor problem. You can, and will, given enough time and training.
  • You should keep trying. Don't give up on auditioning. It's okay to explain your predicament to the director or casting agent and ask to do a prepared piece.
  • A lot of auditions, at least once you get into the business, will send you part of what you are suppose to read before the actual audition. You can always explain to the casting director, etc, that you have that issue. If you honestly have a mild form you can work on it and slowly over come it. It's just going to involve a lot of work on your part.
  • As a Director, I can tell you that I look for sincerity, emotion, and belivable character before I pay attention to the exact words that are said in an audition. If you can't get a script ahead of time - wait to audition last, and watch the other people do the scenes. Talk to the Director about what they are looking for. Be honest and explain your difficulty with cold reading, then knock them dead with your emotion and honesty as you improvise the scene the best you can. Allow the Director to direct you, and listen and incorporate anything he wants.
