Question

Help answer this question below.

Why do so many Americans think government is the cure all for poverty. I think the only solution comes from you and me and charity. Redistribution is communism. Socialism never worked in America. The Pilgrams failed at it. Read the history books.

You question makes no sense!! Charity and redistribution are the same thing, redistribution is just forced charity to insure that the poorest people in society get an income.
Socialism has never been properly inforced in America so of course it hasnt worked!
The most equal and best run countries in the world are Denmark, Finland and Sweeden, all of which have huge taxes and excelent wellfare systems and there is practilly no one living under the poverty line in these countries!
So clearly the government is the answer to povert, people are way to selfcentered to give up there money out of the kindness of there own hearts, if you wernt taxed you would never give up near as much as you would if you are being taxed!
I suggest taking a trip to a third world country and opening your eyes to real poverty!

There has never been a solid cure for poverty in our history. Getting an education to get a job is the only answer. I never jot a job from a poor person.

Look what happened recently in Hawaii. They decided that all children should have government health insurance for free. Well after seven months they ran out of money! Everyone who had insurance already stopped their policys and got the Gov. one. Ha! Does that tell you anything?

I think you're close -- closer than anyone in Congress or running for it -- but 'charity' isn't really a 'cure' for poverty, either.
