Chainsaw
Katana
The Olsen twins with a rope between them used as nunchaks.
If this is general and not relating to any specific game...
I would probably want to use a Pike or Halberd as, in the words of Fred Colon 'all the horrible stuff happens at the other end of it'. The last thing you would want is to stab a zombie and then get covered in zombie yuck.
Baseball bat- it has reach, and will render the brain...dead.
Crow bar- because it's usefull for more than killing.
CQC tactical knife- for close quarters combat.
Holy Avenger. Acts as a +5 weapon when used against undead, and does 2d6 holy damage.
A jetpack....;-D...
apart from the running-out-of-petrol-thus-making-it-useless thing, the good ol' chainsaw is oft' considered the best option.
Failing that, a good old Louisville slugger. You either need to cut the bastards up with minimum effort, or be able to easily batter their brains out. Remember that most regular zombies aren't affected by stab wounds, and you must essentially break their brains to do anything to them.
Hmm, I would say a crowbar through the head, an axe, a chainsaw, machete, a cleaver to the back of the neck severing the spinal cord. That's all I've got at the moment.
A scythe! You can swing it around and lop zombie heads by the dozen...but make sure it's sharp, and that you're strong enough.
Otherwise, a nice fine rapier. Just poke them in the head with it and they'll drop, and it slides right out, no need to worry about zombie chunks and limbs impeding your progress. fast, clean work!
Of course, however, nothing beats the close quarter machete. Fast and effective, you don't have much range, but then, you probably don't need it when using a machete.
Of course...it can always get stuck in a zombie head, and hard to pull out, as proven in Dawn of the Dead...but the momentary threat to your life during such an occurrence is made up for by just how cool it looks lol.
Wearing ear protection, blast Lady Gaga at them.
my weapons are:
1. 21" inch machete from cold steel (i love this blade and keep it sharp)(also the back is real strong and can destroy concrete easily)
2. 50" wooden sword (good for dealing with humans and was made from a hockey stick and it does get a good beating daily and hasn't broke yet)
3. Small hatchet (great edge on it and preferable to carry then a hammer and ax)
4. 2 17" chefs knives (yes i think these are necessary because when they come it helps to have a weapon ready)
5. Garden shovel (probably the best of all weapons its the zombie apocalypse jack of all trades weapon it can bury the bodies dig traps bludgeon zombies slice zombies is mid to close range(depending on length) and are almost everywhere in the world)
Either a :
shot gun for close up
submachine gun
a knife for close shaves
a chain saw
a baseball bat (prefferibly steel)
a bazooka
a golf club
an axe
a metal pole
a sniper rifle for far away shots
a samurai sword good for slicing them in 2
Hope this helps if there ever is a zombie outbreak but there never will be. :)
1. Large Machete, designed to cut trough rope-like vines and the likes... works great on limbs and other body parts of a zombie. Hack/slash, dismember and close in for the killing blow aming for the head/neck.
2. Crowbar... multi purpose. enough said. (altough not ideal to quickly kill a zombie)
3. Sword
Not so great weapons top 3 :P
1. chainsaw, unwieldy, will cover you in infected goo. uses fuel wich at some point wil be hard to come by. Also makes a lot of noise.... could attract more unwanted guests.
2. Any bludgening weapons. youl have to hit really hard to do damage, so it'll take a lot of hits to really kill a zonbie. (swords: dismember by aiming for the limbs and decapitate or break skull... Bludegening weapon, try to break limbs then go for the head).
3. Anything heavy. You'll get tired out out of breath quite fast.
Medium length, light weight, two-handed sword that can be used one handed ... katana or ninjato will do nicely
Walking cane sized prybar
Some sort of flame weapon with plenty of fuel ... napalm, acetylene welder, molotovs, fuel tanker truck, catapult with large ceramic vases of lamp oil or kerosesne ... anything that can burn.
Chainsaw
Shotgun
Large supply of shotgun shells and chain lube.....;-D..
Many a sword
Many a gun
and this

A grappling hook, for pulling them around :D and to escape if needed
A bazooka is always fun to have, as a last resort (or maybe first >.< )
A flail to own those jerks up close and personal
Machete
Heavy mallet
Crowbar - multiple uses
/sigh
Some people just don't know how to kill a zombie.. Using chainsaws/explosives/fire isn't recommended because they're "clumsy" and you'll probably just kill yourself with 'em.
Best (melee) weapons are:
Katana/Wakizashi
Titanium Crowbar
Trench Knife (With hand guard)
Essential Zombie gear by D.r Nemesis:
1.Magnum 357 (recommended)
2.The legendary german "zweihander"
3.An armed terrorist (for chaotic moments) make sure he yells BEFORE the explosion!
4.ipod
5.If you're a girl a hot and sexy outfit (no one likes a lame zombie killer!)
6.A sneezing monkey! (personal entertainment)

I once used a pair of Olsen-chuks on my mother. They're actually quite fragile and snap pretty easy. Stick to the corey-chuks, the lost boys special edition chuks work best.
