If you mean his litter box, place him there after eating, he will get to know very quickly.
If you mean the box he sleeps in, try showing him where it is, placing a favourite toy or smell (like your socks) in there, or maybe some small dry food treats. Again, he will get to know, but if it is for sleeping he may be more fussy as if it is draughty or smells wrong he just won't like it.

My 1 yr. puppy lifts his leg on everything in the back yard. How can I get him to stop ? He's not nutered,does this make a diffference ?

You're reading I have a full grown cat,and we moved his box into the garage from the house(we have small children now)wat kind of time schedule could we work out so he gets familiar with where his new box location is? or anything that would be helpful?
