  • My son is eight and he still occasionally slips into my bed for a snuggle. More than likely Its not about being co-dependent, but about needing that special time with her parents that sometimes theres just not enough time in the day for.
  • I...would have gone for about 4.. It's one thing to sneak into the parents bed or something if the child has a nightmare, but needing to be cuddled every night to be able to fall asleep is making the child really dependent on you. At 8 she should be able to go and have sleep-overs, etc.
  • The only answer can be 8. Otherwise an 8 yr old girl wouldn't stop asking, they would be a different age. Nice try, but you can't trick me tonight. I just had a bowl of oatbran and I am on top of my game.... wait a minute... wtf.... apparently oat bran has other affects as well... brb...
  • She'll probably never stop asking on her own. If you're uncomfortable with it, you should talk to her and ask her to help think about a solution (like a new teddy bear to cuddle) that would make her feel comforted while she adjusts to the new routine. Another way to ween her off would be to agree with her on a time limit that would gradually be shortened over a few weeks - just to give her time to adjust. A lot of children are frightened at night, and feel insecure. Go easy on her, include her in an agreement about how you will deal with the sitation, and stick to it.
