My Panasonic NV-G500 VCR is stuck at SP while trying to play SLP. In addition, while playing SP tape the picture repeatedly turns snowy when capstan turns at specific point and then it fixes again. Could it be the power supply?

  I have just purchased a 42 inch LG plasma and i have a couple of high quality stereo vcrs both of which look shaky in playback.when i watch on my 11 year old jvc tv the problem is gone is this a matter of incompability?
