Help answer this question below.
Reason #1 is that many Americans are too stupid and too lazy to do math and too stupid to realize that people don't build and staff those big expensive buildings to make THEM rich.
Reason #2 is that gambling is rather like injecting amphetamines but without the needle marks. Gambling creates a drug-like effect from internally-manufactured endorphins and adrenaline that can be every bit as addicting--and as destructive--as crystal meth. Not being a drug user, I don't know exactly which drug to compare it to, but it would be one of the uppers, not a downer.
The difference is that there are some drugs (I guess) that you can't use without becoming addicted to them, and others like alcohol and gambling that you can use occasionally without becoming addicted and without ruining your life.
Because local governments see casinos as a revenue generator. More and more are relaxing the gaming laws in hopes of making a quick buck.
Instead of telling the US citizens their tax is going up they are going to make money from the gambling. They will get more that way.
Moral views here are changing.
revenue for the government..apparently since 90% of our taxes are spent to fund fraudulent wars and we are still in debt, a few bucks made off legalized gambling is always needed...the lottos seem to work well for the poor so they figure the casinos will work for the middleclass and rich.
People have too much money and don't know what to do with it.

Hiya Mastodon. I think the reason is that Governors like Ed Rendell in Pennsylvania have faced some hard facts with the recent downturn in the economy. Either they'd have to shut down half of the state services, or find a new source of revenues. They look at casinos as "free money" that would otherwise have been spent in Las Vegas or Atlantic City. Thus these governors push to have legalize gambling and lobby to have casinos built in cities like Pittsburgh.
