  • animals donate blood for other animals
  • they usually keep at least one dog at every vet. that they know is healthy and has all its shot, kinda like the vet. mascot and they use him/her for blood transfusions in a pinch if needed.
  • Apparently, within the last decade veterinary blood banks have been appearing. Up until now, and even mostly still, vets use their own dogs, dogs of their staff, or sometimes borrow a clients dog to make transfusions. Assuming the owner would pay for serious medical treatment. Most people won't spend hundreds of dollars on a dog. http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art32483.asp Neat question, I hadn't thought about this until you brought it up and I researched a little.
