when rid of their stickers and thick outer skin, cactus may be eaten as an excellent source of fiber, vitamins and minerals. Cacti, cultivated by people worldwide, are a familiar sight as potted plants, houseplants..Cacti are commonly used for fencing material where there is a lack of either natural resources or financial means to construct a permanent fence. The aesthetic characteristics of some species, in conjunction with their home security qualities, makes them a considerable alternative to artificial fences and wall.As well as garden plants, many cactus species have important commercial uses, some cacti bear edible fruit, such as the prickly pear and Hylocereus, which produces Dragon fruit or Pitaya. Opuntia are also used as host plants for cochineal bugs in the cochineal dye industry in Central America.

I have a wonderful live fence of cactus around my farm. I planted them myself. Cost me very little. Only a little effort on my part. What is better is they need no care or watering and look beautiful as they keep growing and flowering.

Well if you have one in a pot you barely have to water it, and they can sometimes come in very nice colours and shapes :)

Well, they're good for eating. At least, some varieties are, I know because I've eaten it. They're also attractive to have in your home.
