What seems to be the problem?
My laptop shows a green or orange LED when I plug it in regardless of whether it is on or not. If it is off, then that LED lighting up is *all* that happens; no HD spin-up, black screen, and all.
Or are you saying that when you don't have it plugged in that it does *nothing* even if you hit the power button, and that if you hit the button with it plugged in something different happens?
Regardless, if you get NOTHING, not even a POST screen, then chances are that it's a power issue. Depending on the laptop, that could be either on-board, a bad adapter, or a bad battery.
Give a little more detail and we might be able to help you better.

It sounds like either the system board or the internal power converter is bad. Unfortunately, this will require an enture system board replacement. Sorry for the bad news.
Lightning struck near my house last night causing my accidentally plugged in laptop to spark at the place where it was plugged in. the laptop works but refuses to charge. Is this an internal problem or a problem with the power cord?

When I use My Laptop (IBM T40) it goes all FRIZZ! So I have to turn it off by pressing the power button!Why My Laptop goes Frizz?

On my x50z asus laptop i had to press power s/w tens of times sometimes three imes and some other times from first time to get my laptop on,bearing in mind that it actsthe same thing when i use express gate s/w which means that the problem is away from po

You're reading My laptop turns on if i plug it in ,the hd doesnt spin and nothing shows on the screen,the hd is good but the light doesnt turn on eigther
