Depending on the intensity of the stress, I may listen to some stand-up comedy, rock out to some really heavy music, or take a nice long drive. The comedy really helps me for some reason, even more so than my favorite music. Brain dumps help me too. I may write out what I'm feeling and then tear it up and throw it away. I may also just allow myself to veg in front of a movie and not talk for a few hours. What works one day may not work the next.

Meditation. Lol, that sounds funny. But really just sit and try to think about one calming thing until your body relaxes and you can focus on that. When I try to go to bed and I am stressed and can't fall asleep, I think about my toes. It works every time.

Naps with my cat, and occasionally a brief indulgence in some violent video games.

Long, slow, deep breaths sitting alone. Exercise. Laughing. Talking to a good, non-judgmental friend. Eating something yummy (in moderation). Writing. Reading. Cooking. Yoga. Blasting some good music and dancing in the middle of the living room!

Run, hot shower, sandwich of choice (i.e. Turkey/Avocado, grilled cheese..), and a nap while watching the food network.

Home, family, pets, the woods around me, cooking something in the kitchen, especially for someone else, all these make me happier and centered.

Sometimes the only thing that helps is a good, long, and soulful....cry. Helps to release the endorphins.

meditation and creative visualization do wonders for me. or i stroll in the woods nearby. ride my bike. float in water and stare at the stars. hug my honey. hug my kitties. eat something decadent. play my piano or listen to an amazing song. take a long hot shower. cuddle up in a blanket in front of a fire and watch a favorite movie or read a good book. call up a good friend and reminisce and laugh about good times. but if youve burned your candle at both ends until there was no candle left, sleep is the answer. :)

I rest at home, otherwise I cannot function properly. After a recent traumatic experience, I have not been out of the house for a month. And it may take a while longer.
