I've found the most pleasurable time to be when you wouldn't expect a lot of people to be going. Last year I went the second week of January, and the ship wasn't as crowded, and the weather was a nice break from the cold.

It would definately depend on where the cruise was taking place and what you look for in a cruise. If you have children you will be goin in school holidays, if you don't then avoid these times! If you like sunbathing choose a time of yr when there will sun in your destination area, if you are not bothered about sunbathing then winter cruises are nice - and sometimes sunny! You could also research your various destinations and see if any local festivals would clash with your itinary as sometimes these can make your destination stops very difficult and limit the amount of sightseeing you could do. Try also avoiding 'worse weather' seasons in the areas you will be travelling through ie. like hurricane season.

My wife and I went on a cruise on Oct.19th of last year to Mexico. It was a great time to go. The weather was perfect, and it's "off season" in the cruise world, so we got a really good deal.

There is no bad time as far as I am concerned (I just returned this past weekend after a week in the Caribbean). The best time is whenever it is most convenient for you and when the weather is best for your destination.
