I'm confused. In central Texas I'm closest to the Pacific Ocean (500 miles through Mexico) but far closer to the Gulf of Mexico (200 miles) - but does that count as ocean?

I live closest to the Atlantic Ocean, but 15 minutes from where i live in Denmark is the Baltic Sea we call it: Øresund. And that borders up to the nordic sea which at last borders up to the Atlantic ocean.

WAIT, now I'm confused. I live in Florida, 15 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean. I thought Canada was above the state of Washington which is on the other side of country. How can we both live near the Atlantic Ocean?

... try looking at a globe / map ... Saint John's, Newfoundland is Canadian and is even further east than Florida ... Canada's mainland stretches east/west quite a bit ... we border three oceans, and two of them are the same east/west coasts Atlantic/Pacific as the U.S. and then we share the northern mainland coast of the Arctic Ocean with Alaska ...

Chili and Brazil also border the Atlantic, as do Spain, South Africa, and numerous other countries ...

Lisa, find yourself a globe or a good atlas. Canada is wider than the US, and borders on three oceans. In the western part ( above Washington state) is the Pacific. In the far north is the Artic Ocean. In the east is the Atlantic. Montreal is toward the eastern side. I don't remember how many miles it is from the coast, but it's a good days ride. Hope that helps you.
