  • It is not the nicotine you are trying to avoid, it is the 700+ other chemicals (and the smelly breath and clothes)
  • Purified nicotine is to be apart from the compoumd consisting of tar!
  • The idea of nicotine chewing gum is that it replaces, to an extent, the satisfaction you feel from a cigarette, which is not only due to the ingestion of nicotine, but the way it enters your bloodstream. When you smoke, the nicotine level in your bloodstream levels out, until you take another drag, when it suddenly shoots up again. It goes up in a stepwise manner. It is this that provides most of the satisfaction. This doesn't happen when you chew nicotine gum. So the gum contains a lot more nicotine, which is why you find it does help with the withdrawal.
  • Im not sure how much was in them to start with ,but im pretty sure the new fsc have reduced theirs by 1.8 mg.(only to add toxins in levels to kill smokers a lot faster)
  • The Federal Trade Commission website reports 1.1mg nicotine and 16mg "tar" in a Marlboro full-flavor king (short) cigarette. http://www.erowid.org/plants/tobacco/tobacco_nic4.shtml#m
  • Not sure.. but good luck quitting.. I did it cold turkey.. and that crap SUCKS!
  • how long is the patch good for? how many cigarettes would you smoke in that time? multiply that by the nicotine dose recieved per cigarette. divide that by the 2 mg and you have how many patches it takes to equal your smoking habbit. one site said you get 1-2 mg per cigarette. to err on the side of caution (1 mg per cig) neutral nicotine would be half as many patches as the number of cigarettes you smoked. I would further cut that by half. WARNING: these numbers are good from a mathematical view, I have NO biochemical training and could be wrong on a few assumptions. ask a pharmasist before attempting my advice. now that I have said that... good luck, I understand breaking nicotine addiction is tough.
  • http://www.riteputt.com/nico_tar_content.htm Looks like about 1mg per cigarette for most brands.
  • Im glad you asked. I went online to look up the exact same question for the exact same reason. I now have my answer. I quit 4 days ago and Im doing great after 26 years of smoking and 100 attempts to stop. Im using the lossenges. Im having no problem this time. As far as the first answer left for you, screw that person. Yes we are trying to avoid the chemicals and the smell, no shit. This is why were are quitting. If we have a question about nicotine and want to compare it with the quit aid then we ask here and we dont expect a smart ass answer from a non-smoker. Good luck, its hard to stop smoking but it will be worth it.
