Yes, it's more common than I'd have guessed. Most recently, in the 1989 World Series, where the A's swept the Giants:

Game 1: A's took lead bottom of the second (won 5-0).
Game 2: A's took lead bottom of the first, Giants tied it top of the third, A's took lead bottom of the fourth (5-1).
Game 3: A's took lead top of the first (13-7).
Game 4: A's took lead top of the first (9-6).

By my reckoning this means the Giants were only tied for 3 1/2 innings over the entire series, so is perhaps a more comprehensive defeat.

It also happened in 1963, when LA swept the Yankees by scores of 5-2, 4-1, 1-0 and 2-1. And in 1966, Baltimore swept LA: in the opener, the Orioles took a 3-0 lead, top of the first. The Dodgers scored two over the first three innings, then didn't score a single run the rest of the way, losing 5-2, 6-0, 1-0 and 1-0.
