  • Large commercial aircraft tend to take of at speeds of around 160-180 mph. Smaller and specialized aircraft much slower.
  • It depends on which aircraft and on the take-off weight. Normally it's about 300 km/h on big airplanes such as B747 or A340. Airplanes also have a minimum take-off speed (literally means that: the necessary speed to take-off) and the "normal" take-off speed.
  • 4-16-2017 Each plane has a table of take-off speeds versus weight, atmospheric pressure, and temperature. When the temperature in Phoenix, AZ went to 122F, planes could not take off because their tables did not go that high. The people who made the calculations didn't think a plane would ever need to fly in such high temperatures.
