Very good question. I had a patient who was on wheelchair because of an accident. He was very young and wanted to impregnant his wife. They could not have normal sex. They used to satisfy each with oral sex or other means. For pregnancy, she came to us. We performed Intra-utrine insemination on her (taking his sperms, concentrating them, and then injecting in to her using instruments).

Xwrench: Sorry to hear that. You would have to enroll in an infertility clinic, either privately or in a hospital (I would prefer a hospital as they are honest with pts) and they have the techniques to remove the semen either from your testicles directly or if you can ejaculate, then using ur sperms (washing them, concentration them) and then inserting it into female vagina / cervix. This is called Intra-uterine insemination. If woman is not successful, then the option would be take your sperms and her ova and fertilize them outside the body and then implanting them in her body. This is called In-vitro Fertilization (IVF). This is very expensive, where as Intra-uterine is effordable.

Hope this is helpful. If you are in Toronto, I can tell which clinics are recommendable.

i would have to agree with connie on this one. it definately depends on how severe their condition is. my boyfriend is a C6-C7 incomplete quadraplegic and he has complete upper body strength and movement in his hands but his fingers do not move that well(fine motor skills) and he is paralyzed in his hands and parts of his chest and he is also paralyzed from the waist down but he can feel the left side of his penis. And we have great sex he was the first guy to ever make me cum sexually and foreplay wise. the only thing that makes sex different is the fact that i am always on top and thats is fine with me because i love to be on top!! If you have any questions feel free to ask i am completely open minded.

depends why they are in a wheelchair. if they are parapeligic they do not have feelings in the lower half so they would have to use their fingers or mouth, they still think about it. if they can feel their lower half they do it normally i would guess

I'm a paraplegic. I have a condition called Spina Bifida. I have had girlfriends and had sex with a number of them. But I am only able to maintain erection using PD5 inhibitors (Viagra, caverject etc).

My understanding is that capability to reproduce in handicaps are different for individuals. For example, I have 3 paraplegic friends. Two of them have 2 kids each. One through natural sex and the other through in vitro fertilization. But the 3rd friend is not able to have any kids, and they have been trying for quite sometimes now. Strangest thing is that his break is T12 and rest of us have higher breaks (T6, T10 and T8 Incomplete).

As for me, my first girlfriend had a pregnancy scare once. I was so happy as I wanted a child with her as I felt she was the one for me. She lost it a few weeks later and about a year after that, we broke up. I haven't really got over her yet and that is probably the reason why I can't seem to keep my relationships. She was the only one who able to make me orgasm.

I know, I know... Realization is the first step to recovery... :)
