I hate McDonalds so I don't even go in there but if I did, lets see. Pay $2.00 for something I can eat at home for 50 cents.. no thanks. If I am going to eat out, I will buy something I don't eat at home every day.

Hot dogs are one of the least expensive foods to make at home (obviously not from scratch). I'm sure that the McDog would cost at least a couple bucks... the same price as a full package from the store.

I don't care much for hot dogs. In my younger days, I tried a couple different hot dogs and only found one in the Chicago area I liked. Portillo's. They've also got a great Italian Beef. I like to go to Portillo's when I return to the Chicago area.
I seldom visit McDonalds. Their menu doesn't hold much appeal for me.

NO WAY! i cant stand hotdogs. and mcdonalds would only make them worse (if its possible).
i remember my mom used to cook them in the microwave until they were burnt. yuck! after i left home it took me 15 years to get up the nerve to try another hot dog. i wasnt missing anything special. i love sausages of all types, but i eschew the dog. they bite!

Since selling hot dogs at Burger King did not work, i assume that McDonalds did not want to fall in the failing category of selling hot dogs, either.

Burger King tried this many years ago.
They opened restaurants selling nothing but hot dogs.
People did not buy it. they all closed.
Many people do not eat hot dogs, simply because they do not know the ingredients.

No. Because Mcdonalds dosen't really COOK COOK their burgers. They just heat em up. and so you know what they would do wit their hotdogs. They wouldnt COOK COOK them, they would heat em up. GROSS! Who would want UNcooked hotdogs? That is called bad service for Mickey D's.

There was a McDonald's here, many many years ago, that was attached to a gas station and the owner sold some of his own menu, including hot dogs, on the menu. I asked for a hot dog with everything, and they put ketchup on it. Come on, guys -- THIS IS CHICAGOLAND!!!! It's illegal here!! They also would sell hot dog value meals, but not the super size option. Unsurprisingly, he long ago went out of business/
