Most Wiccans practice witchcraft. Practicing witchcraft doesn't make one a Wiccan - THEOLOGY does - but most Wiccans practice magic. Practicing magic makes one a witch. Witchcraft is associated with Wicca because practicing magic has been an integral part of Wicca from its very beginnings.

Many Wiccans do practice Witchcraft although not for the reasons many think. We use spells to communicate thoughts, wishes, feelings and emotions to a higher being, much like a Christian prayer.

Wicca is a form of religious Witchcraft.

Originally, "Wicca" was only the name of the priesthood of that religion, while the religion itself was simply called "Witchcraft". These days, however, people tend to use the word Wicca as the name of the religion.

In traditional Wicca (I.e. the original priesthood referred to above) all members are witches. One cannot be a Wiccan (in the original sense) without also performing witchcraft. Even the most basic of Wicca rituals contains witchcraft, for example, all Wicca ritual take place within a magic circle and the creation of this circle is itself a form of ritual witchcraft that involves the manipulation of magical energies and the summoning of spiritual beings.

However, there are those who practice a form of this religion that is inspired by traditional Wicca and generally learnt via books and websites. This is sometimes referred to by some as "neo-Wicca", though most practitioners would probably just refer to it as "Wicca" (though it should be noted that it is technically not the same theology as the one followed by the priesthood of the Wicca). Some among the followers of this neo-Wicca do not practice witchcraft in any sense, but there are no unifying standards of practice or faith with which to define neo-Wicca and what one person does and believes may be entirely different from what another does and believes.

nevets - badgicide said, "Wiccans were persicuted (sic) by the church, called witches, and then burnt alive".

Considering that Wicca did not exist prior to 1950, this is an impossibility.
