  • Yes, you do. Difficulty depends partly on where you live. Rust belt? It will be worse. Clean all threads as well as you can and use plenty of WD-40. Try to siphon off the gas if the tank is full.
  • you could also cut a hole in the floor and weld it back after pump is replaced. no fighting rusted straps or siphoning of the tank I have seen this done several times
  • yes you do and unless you have a lift it can be a royal pain
  • not sure why you would want to cut a hole right above the GAS tank... best way to do it and fastest way to do it is spray some wd40 or better pb blaster and let it sit over night.. put a jack under the tank and put just a little pressure against the tank with the jack. loosen all the strapes slowly AND I MEAN VERY SLOW let the tank down not all the way. as soon as you can get up and in there undo all the hoses and wires remember were they went,,, diff color paint pens come in handy here, mark them.. take them off then you can lower it down to get the pump out, PLEASE TELL US WHY YOU THINK ITS THE PUMP THAT IS BAD
  • Check under the back seat. You might have an access panel. It looks like a metal plate and when you pull it you can then get to the fuel pump. If not it's not hard to drop the tank. Just two straps, two lines then it just takes a 17mm or 18mm wrench to get the gas lines off and get to the sending unit. You will need a hammer and screwdriver to get the sending unit ring off.
