Where did the term "period" come from?

    the term period is an interval of time. if something is periodic then it repeats it self (ie, in this case ones period). so i'm guessing it's a "period" as it's "periodic"

    Period is a regular physiological phenomenon. This is due to hormonal changes in the blood. The most superficial layer of uterus expands by hormonal influence. But after 28 days when the level of hormone falls, they sheds like crying. These comes out as altered blood.
