  • Hmm...there are two ways of looking at this question, I think. First, what is "bad" to me personally, and second, what is objectively "bad" for the site. I'll stick with the second. I have seen a few users who have seemingly become so wrapped up in self-created drama and politics of AB that they are no longer able to enjoy the site for what it is. On a more straightforward note, it seems like a huge amount of people fail to do a pre-search for questions they plan to ask, or to look at the suggested dupes when they submit a question.
  • Questions that are not duplicates being flagged as duplicate, it drives me nuts, to the point i only answer them now.:)
  • You can word as a docor here? Sweeeeeeeeet...
  • Perhaps I'm wrong, but i think a lot of people have been creating new anonymous accounts just to ask the really out there questions that they're too embarrassed to ask on their regular account.
  • People flagging questions as duplicates like crazy. I have seen several of my answers posted on the new question and they make no sense at all. It will be the complete opposite of what I would have posted for that question.
  • people giving negative points because they don't understand answers (answers which are not offensive in any way btw)
  • ..lately?...you mean its changed...
  • People setting up dummy accounts to post negative comments targeted at individuals.
  • From a CLs perspective this is a long list, so forgive me in advance :) People taking things personally and blowing things out of proportion as a result. Lots of arguments get started this way. People using screen names, avatars, and profiles to say negative things about other users. Also, people choosing screen names and avatars that are not PG-13, thus not appropriate on AB. People placing things in the wrong category. I hardly see how a question about a car problem fits into Deep Thoughts. People not using the search box to find possible duplicate questions before posting one. I have seen a ton that were word for word the exact same question. Kind of sick of seeing Why is the sky blue? :) Flagging. It's easy to blame the moderators for those issues, but he reality is users create an overwhelming amount of work for them to do by not being smart about flagging to begin with. People need to be more judicious when it comes to flagging. Make sure that what YOU consider "nonsense" or "offensive" actually IS per the Terms of Use. Flagging to move questions by a specific user to inappropriate categories to be a smartass or flagging content just because you have a beef with somebody is a big problem. AB-Staff can track that as easily as retaliatory downrating, but why should they need to? Come on, act like adults people. People need to be more considerate when it comes to rating. We all make mistakes and forget to either acknowledge an answer or leave points, but to do neither is kind of rude. People need to remember that somebody took the time to answer your question, so you should take the time to acknowledge it. People creating drama. I can't say it enough--DON'T do it, it's wicked annoying.
  • Andy's answer was great. Just one thing I would wish to add is duplicating questions by changing just a single word... What's the difference between a question that asks, "What is the color of red ball" and "What is the color of blue ball". Or questions asking for meanings of words or performance of things.... Most of these are so simple that a beginner can google it and get them. And neither can AB remove them because nobody flags them either because these still hold good as per terms of use... I think that's the loop hole here! Sorry if I sound offensive.
  • Using *text talk* in a question. How difficult is it to type the word *be* instead of *b*? And question marks! Drives me crazy when there isn't one.
  • Flag vultures who just want points. I hate how people will so self righteously state that they care about the site so much but on the other hand probably don't even look at what they're flagging. The instigation of drama, and the goddamn ridiculous extension thereof. Usually by calling out members constantly or making thread after thread about a certain member or incident, or worse, writing about it in your profile or username. Some people need to get f*****g life. This isn't a place to indulge in friggin' split personalities or humour the no having of life. When someone gets trolled and makes a thread about it like, "Wow are the trolls going strong tonight or is it just me?" I guess I can understand that people want their points back, but these questions are annoying because they're ONLY about wanting points back, the question itself is just a cover up and they don't care what they're asking as long as we all compensate for point loss, at least, I'm pretty willing to bet. I see this very often. One sided biased questions that are written to suggest two or several options but are blatantly and obviously pointing an ill mannered and often inflammatory finger at one specific side; "Are you a Christian or a heathen atheist?" "What choice is better, Mccain's lawful views or Obama's unwelcome ideas"? And, of course, the ever prevailing practice which sadly inhabits Answerbag and always will, downrating without a comment. At least if it wasn't for that, I'm thinking the drama around here would be cut by half. Funny how we get all on a warpath for the most dumbest garbage. Also sorry, I'm in a pissy mood today, so this may sound a whole lot more grouchy than it should be. >_>
  • Trolling is always bad practice
  • Down rating. I personally think its unnecessary in most cases. I mean its good enough for me to know that it exists as an option, but I have never been so presumptious as to actually deduct anything from anyone merit wise, just because I didn't personally agree with them. Life takes all kinds and people are allowed to disagree with you.
  • The incredible amount of intolerance of different opinions and ideas that is getting pretty nasty here.
  • Posting lots of questions and not acknowledging the answers (no points or comments given). I know this is kinda old, but it's good to point this out again and again.
  • The "do your own homework" answers. Or , "google it" answers. Its rude, uninformative, and most of all, nonsense. If a question is that bad, it should be flagged. If it isnt, and we cant come up with an answer, or a way for the person to come up with an answer, we simply should not answer it.   Great question smOOz!
