People were sitting at a table. 21 appetizers were passed around from person to person in order around the table. MARIE took the first one. Each person took one each time the tray was passed around. Marie took the last one.How many were at the table.

    If Marie started AND finished, then by taking away that last drink you can see how many people may have been around the table simply by looking at the factors of your number, in this case 20. The factors here are 1 (not applicable as you mention people instead of person), 2,4,5,10, and 20. Any of these would fulfil you question as it stands.

    good one. you didn't say they all get an equal share, so I'm guessing there were 4 people and each got 5 apps- except Marie-- she got one extra.

    Or there were 5 ppl and each got 4-- except M- who got one extra- the first AND the last?

    If I'm wrong, were they each to have gotten an equal amount? Do I have all the facts? :)
