Well, you aren't so interested in him, only your fantasy of how he should be. He's being a little dumb, since he's being honest with you. You can't take it, you resent it, which shows you're more or less stereotypical. I can guarantee you he's being absolutely normal, except that he's being honest. He probably should lie to you more, so you will be more satisfied with his behavior.

My answer would be that he may want some reassurance from you, or maybe he wants you to say that you only fantasize about him. There could be a host of reasons, but the ones listed on this site are the most likely ones.
