    1) Pride and egotism. The great thing about my particular brand of Agnosticism is that I don't feel like I'm doing my beliefs a disservice when I advise people AGAINST agreeing with my beliefs. My 'religion' is right for ME!

    2) In my case, that is irrelevant. Some religions compel their followers to spread their version of The Word; God tells them to try converting all non-believers. And others believe that it is okay to kill all non-believers that refuse to convert... because God says so.

    3) We aren't. However God made an exception and appointed certain of his faithful to be his Inquisitors. Too bad those alleged chosen are too stupid to spell "Inquisitor" or know what it means or the history.... I digress.

You have asked a number of things here. First of all, logic dictates that at most, only one religion can be true. No two religions believe exactly the same thing. Where religions differ in beliefs, only one of those beliefs can be true all others must be false on that point. Logically, it is possible that all could be wrong, but then one would have to reject all religions. So, if you believe in a religion you must do so because you think that it best interprets the nature of our relationship to the divine.

Once you have settled on your beliefs, if you truly believe your religion is the best way to access the divine and provides the guidance to lead the happiest possible life, then why not share it with others. It would be selfish to keep it all to yourself. There is, however, a difference between sharing and pushing. Sharing means providing the opportunity for others to learn about your religion and choosing for themselves whether or not to accept it. Pushing means to put undo pressure on the other person to accept your religion. Sometimes the difference between these two can be very subtle.

Finally with respect to not judging others, this is an idea that is often taken out of context in such a way as to justify the acceptance of bad behavior. The fact of the matter is that we must make judgments every day. We have to choose the kind of people with whom we want to associate. We must choose what kinds of behaviors we will tolerate. If you follow the logic of do not judge to its ultimate extreme than we would never punish criminals because we have not right to judge them either.

The injunction against judging other is more along the lines of not trying to usurp God's authority. It is not our place to say who is or is not going to hell. Only God knows what is in a person's heart and mind. So, only He can make such judgments. He has, however, provided us with guidelines as to what is right and wrong and it is incumbent on every one to speak up for the right and condemn the wrong. We don't always agree on just which is which. So we debate over these issues and hope that the truth will win out, but each of us has a moral obligation to stand for that which we do believe to be right. Once the debate is over it is also up to each of us to live the best lives that we can within the framework of our societies and then leave it up to God to make the judgments concerning our ultimate rewards.

Because people are invested in their beliefs.

Christianity and Islam are the two largest religions in the world:
    # If you are Christian, non-Christians are wrong.
    # If you are Muslim, non-Muslims are wrong.

    It's just that simple.

They believe that mainly because they are told what to believe and what they believe is true, and the only one. A lot of us do not want to go out and search for ourselves what the true answer is.

I am Christian, I was raised in a Presbyterian, Nazarene, Jewish Temple, etc. I have been around a lot of religions. I have found as I went out and studied the religions that Christianity-Non-denominational is the way to go for me. It follows the Bible, it does not add to the Bible, or take away from the Bible. God says that any question that you have is in the Bible. I feel the Bible is complete. (I am not saying that other religions do not do the same thing, I am only referring to Christianity here.) (I would want to be Jewish, but unfortunately I am only part Jewish, and not full. The reason why I would want to be Jewish is because most of the Bible is written in Hebrew and I would love to be able to read the Bible in the original documentation.)
I may argue against other people saying that my religion sucks or people who belittle my religion but only in defense.
I live as best I know how (from what the Bible tells me). I try to live how Jesus would live, and how God wants me live. I try not too push my beliefs on anyone, but if I do, I do not mean to with the intention of conversion, or hurt.
I feel religions do this, because they want others to believe in what they believe, and especially like Christians, if you are a non-believer we are sad that you have not accepted Christ and therefore will go to hell. We do not want that, so I guess that is why we do it.
I on the other hand think by example is the way to go. Shoving religion down the throat of people pushes them away more so then brings them closer.
I think the only way people judge others in that instance is, when they say, you are going to go to hell or something like that, if you won't change to their religion, etc.
I also don't say, "Read it, pray about it, and if you get a burning sensation or any feeling in your bosom then that means it is right for you."
I say, read it, then check it out, the background, what it is based upon, how did it come about, etc. And after you have done that, then chose the religion that is right for you. Otherwise I feel that just going off what people say and not looking up the information after it is given to you, to see if what they are saying is truth, or even good news, then you are gulable.

I don't know, I don't think Jesus likes the idea that man has added their own views in the God's Bible.

We indeed are not supposed to judge others, lest we also be judged. And I imagine every person alive today has judged others anyway.

I don't know if most religions do think theirs is the only correction religion, but admittedly some do, including most expressions of Christianity.

For those religions who believe theirs is the only correct one, it is understandable that they would try to convince others to join them. The intentions are good ones most of the time. The methods sometimes stink. I prefer to set an example of my faith, and I do hope others will follow. But I'm not going to chase after them or demand them to "get saved."

As for the need for some to push their beliefs onto others, there are some who would run me off! I am Episcopalian, and I still am pursued by quite a few well-meaning people (mostly Baptists in this case) who are convinced I'm really not saved. So it happens even among Christians. Go figure...

...trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
    -John 14:6

The Bible says that Jesus is the only Way to heaven. Not any organized religion, not Muhammed, not Buddah, not Moses, not Confucious, Mary, or the Pope, Only Jesus. I believe the Bible to be the inerrant Word of the living God, and thus that Jesus is the Son of God who bled and died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead 3 days after His death and burial, so I believe that these words are true. I should not push my beliefs on others (I can be bad for that sometimes, so sorry if I do) but I should spread the gospel of Christ, peacefully, not by force. Still yet, by believing and making clear that I believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven and all other ways lead to hell and that all organized religion is evil and of Satan, I'm not judging anyone, the Bible is because it teaches so. I hope that this is helpful.

-In the service of the Master.
Thank you and God bless you!

You should not push your beliefs on anyone as it may be that what a person believes in gives him/her their peace and security in life. To take that away from them is cruel. However, if someone wants a debate about a religious belief that's an entirely different story.

There is a Biblical injunction not to judge, but it is not in the sense of refraining from speaking truth. It is to do with those peripheral things in life, or on lifestyle, particularly if your own does not measure up to scratch.

On which belief is true, however, we must speak up. That doesn't mean we do it uncharitably, but we do have to speak truth. Jesus says "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by way of me." (John 14:6)

I can't see any way out of that one. Either Jesus is telling the truth or He is not. I believe He is, therefore, if I love other humans, I have to tell them if they are going the wrong way.

    I hope that explains it.
