Are there any clothes which would stop you from getting cold...or at least stop the cold to some degree in very very cold water?

In water? Your best bet would be a scuba diving dry suit.

your best off using a wet suit (diving suit) because when i went to canada to surf we took our wet suits which were 5mm thick i was comfortable in the water which was like 1-2 degrees celcius and wet suits come in vary of widths
