My roommate has an RCA TruFlat TV set. I touched it to change the channel, and it shocked me, switched to FRNT (or something like that), and then turned off. Now it won't come back on! The red standby light is still on, but the television stays off.

On your remote there is a button called "input". Press it and it should change back to regular TV input.

- I thought I commented on this, but I guess I didn't. I don't have access to the TV now. I didn't have the remote to try this at first, but when I did get the remote, Input was the second button I tried after Power. None of the buttons on the remote or TV set worked. It remained switched off with the Standby light on. Thanks for your answer, though.

My roommate actually did the same thing to me. He moved my tv over on a desk so he could put his up to. He was slightly shocked moving my tv over and it stopped working. I took it by a tv repair place it some part had fried or something. He said it would take 50-80 dollars to replace so I just bought a new tv. Mine wasn't a flat screen, though, so yours might be worth just fixing, no idea.

- Thanks! $50-$80 sucks, but it's way better than paying for a brand new TV. Well, at least I know what to get her for Christmas...I hope you weren't too mad at your roommate. :)

You probably fried something inside the tv. You being shocked makes me think that... Something is probably shorted or fried and needs to be replaced... As for what, I have no idea, try taking it by a repair shop and seeing what they say.

- Oh, this is horrible! All I did was touch it. I don't have the remote, so I don't know if maybe that would help. Weird thing is, it was a hard shock, but it wasn't painful. After it shocked me, all the light switches started shocking me too for a while. Stupid TV. I guess I'll let my roommate know I'll foot the bill. Thanks.
