  • I can't find anything on the percentage of MA's being sent to the Sandbox, but I'd guess the numbers to be in line with the MA strength authorized for similar shore commands stateside. Once you swear that second oath, the Navy owns your body. I'd say you have good odds to be sent over there fresh from advanced training, but that depends if you get assigned a berth in a unit that is already scheduled to depart. You may luck out and get into one that just got back. And, yes, they will send you if you are married. As for not volunteering, you volunteered to enlist and that is all the permission Uncle Sugar needs.

  • Yes, there are quite a few of them here. 6 months or 1 year orders, most 1 year. Odds aren't in favor of it, most of the MAA's are a bit more senior. But you could get tagged for an IA out of your first command, so don't rule it out. More likely is doing a 1 year between your first and second commands.
  • What do you mean didn't volunteer? The US military is all volunteer. There are no military troops that did not join voluntarily, that I know of. You can get the information you need from the officer in charge of the unit.
