  • Yes. iF a women is raped then the man should have tp go through the same thing.
  • The punishment should fit the crime.
  • Yes- I think taking a life- whether on accident or on purpose derserves a harsh punishment- because the life that was taken was priceless and the only way to statisfy the balances is to take the life of that individual.
  • I believe in capital punishment but not how it is meted out. I think the DP should be abolished until it is free from bias in regards to money, race and status.
  • I believe if someone can not be corrected and placed back into society than capital punishment is a possibility that should be thought about as an option. But I still think it should not be used often. I believe it should be something that someone is shocked when they see someone is about to executed in the newspaper. If the punishment is offensive and not common than I believe it will deter people better.
  • No. I don't think anyone should have the right to take a life. Plus it seems to be the easy way out. I think a lifetime of prison would be more cruel.
  • Yes... why should tax payers have to house and feed someone who raped and murdered 10 people for 60 years? these people who have no hope of being reformed should just be put down and save us the money that can be spent on better things.
  • If it were being used fairly and accurately, I'd be for it. I'd in fact be for doing it faster-- quit letting people make 8(or a billion) appeals, hanging around for years. However, it tends to be used disproportionately against people who couldn't afford their own lawyers or who are minorities. And (even though 99% of people plead not guilty, surely), I have a hard time stomaching the thought of giving the death penalty to someone staunchly protesting his innocence. Kindof like Communism, i guess-- a good idea on paper, not so hot in practise.
  • For, especially for violations of parking enforcement laws.
  • I am very old-fashioned.."an eye for an eye"..the Code of Hammurabi (sp?). Of course, the danger is that a person may be innocent..there have been many innocent people put in jail for years due to all kinds of ignoble reasons. So, if you catch a person in the act of the crime, or if he/she confesses (and I think truth serum and lie detectors should be employed, but not torture)then if that person killed someone, he/she should be put to death. No back door bargaining...no deals..no nothing. You kill someone, you die for it! If the death is accidental (drunk driving) you spend the rest of your life in jail..no parole ever. You can't redeem your way out of having killed someone or atone for it or "make up" for it.
  • No. We have a screwy judicial system, corrupt politicians, and too much money in the wrong hands. A life is not worth the risk of being wrong.
  • For provided there is 100% un-reputable evidence. Only for Murder, rape and paedophilia of all kinds
  • For the worst of the worst!...and with undeniable FACTS! I saw yes....
  • Well, I've answered every other version of this question with ''against it''. However now the question keeps popping up, I'm starting to favour it exclusively for those Answerbag users who keep asking the same question over and over, consistently ignoring the ''suggested similar questions'' feature and the ''search for answers'' tab.
  • I'm for it, For people like the vile animals that tortured and killed poor little baby P, I'd hang them myself.
