The American Party was formed in 1849 as a result of its members' revulsion of immigrants...particularly Irish Catholic immigrants. This party even seriously threatened to burn down St. Patrick's catherdal in NYC. Armed Irish immigrants barricaded themselves inside to prevent its destruction. The American Party was known by outsiders as the "Know nothing party" as members were instructed to answer "I know nothing" when asked by outsiders about the organisation's operations.

Depends where you are - there are lunatic fringe parties in every country. There was one in France who wanted to end immigration and to have the Queen of England arrested for being a drug dealer.
