Why is fighting ok in hockey and frowned upon in other sports?

    Fighting is certainly not okay in hockey. Umpiring rule 2.3h in the Rules of Hockey 2007–2008 says:

    “when a player intentionally misbehaves in a serious manner towards another player, umpire or other match official the red card must be shown immediately.”

    Not only will that player be permanently suspended from that game (red card), they'll also most definitely face a lengthy ban from their governing association.
