i dont know but i was assured the marriage was over befor i started dating a women (maria) telling me she was in love with me then suddenly she goes back, i dont know about family but for me it was very hurtful

It would hurt the spouse that was being cheated on, the children because they would also feel betrayed and the person who was having the affair would (should) be racked with guilt for doing it.

Different strokes for different folks. Some women put up with it for whatever reason..they justify, rationalize, whatever. If it were my marriage and my family, it would destroy us. Betrayal..that is a very big dealbreaker. No excuse..no "sorry"..no second chance. Throw the bum out the door. I wouldn't want such a person in my house anywhere near my children. :(
