  • I do not at all.Generalizations of religions or that of any topic is not a very intelligent thing to do,and leads to close mindedness and fear.People are born in different parts of the world and would very likely follow the customs and religion of their land.
  • There are some from every culture, religion, group...that can be viewed negatively, but there are also a great number from every group that are wonderful people just doing the best they know how to do. To view all Muslims negatively would not be right. Just as viewing all Christians negatively for the actions of a few...or any other race, religion, culture...
  • If I had to judge that based solely on certain users on here, then I would, but I know better than to judge a whole thing merely by what I see from a handful. My best friend is a Muslim, and she isn't anything like the hate and vehemence I see prevailing the Muslim section on here.
  • I have a few Muslim friends as well as Jewish friends, we go out and talk politics at the bar. Not all people are extremists and it is not OK to generalize groups of people with the ones you see on TV.
  • Not at all now. I was afraid after 9/11 though, but I suppose very few weren't. I'm over it though.
  • I honestly don't think people are being honest on this question so far. Yes to be honest I do have negative views of Muslims. I am not a racist person but I do have negative feelings.
  • Nope. I’ve had several good friends that are practicing Muslims, some of them even born-and-bred Americans. I *do* have a negative view of terrorists, but not all Muslim are terrorists, nor are all terrorists Muslims. Of course, as a member of a persecuted religious group myself, I also empathize with them.
  • Not at all. I've known a few and was friends with one Muslim couple. They are simply people with a different religion and possibly culture than I have.
  • While I don't judge Muslims, I have seen "What The West Needs To Know About Islam" [ http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-871902797772997781&ei=BQztSLKgJYGE_AGiicSjAw&q=what+the+west+needs+to+know+about+islam] and my opinion has shifted towards a yes towards the Islam religion. =/
  • No, all the Muslims I know are very nice.
  • Though the politically correct response would be no, my response is yes. I know not every Muslim is a terrorist. I know not every Muslim is extreme. I know that 99% of Muslims are regular people just trying to live their lives. That being said, it's that 1% that has caused so much death, fear, destruction and mayhem in the world that it makes the others look bad. Also, if everyday Muslims were VERY vocal in denouncing the extremists and terrorists, I think that they would be regarded in a better light. Sometimes inactivity and silence is very self-destructive!!!
  • No. The big media cartels are constantly bombarding societies -around the globe- with negative propaganda towards Islam. I am glad that television & newspapers are not part of my life. My 2 cents.
  • no, there is a bad few, but there are in any religion.:)
  • No, not at all.
  • I have always tried not to ever stereotype, generalize or judge people just because of their race, religion, orienation, culture, etc. I know that many people have become more fearful since 9/11. Let's just say, I don't have a negative view, but perhaps a "cautious" view. Within every culture, race, religion, etc., there will be those folks that are good people, and there will be some that are "bad." Unfortunately, it's the few bad apples that spoil the bunch. And, after 9/11, unfortunately, a lot of folks assume that all are terrorists. I've known Muslims that were nice, and some that are not. Just like any other group of people.
  • No not at all :)
  • no...they are ok with me
  • Not all Muslims are bad, but since 9/11 I havent felt very strongly about them. I still feel they restort to killing and destroying to make their point.
  • Not at all, I respect everyones right to believe or not believe in whatever they desire. I will never tell someone they are wrong, crazy or stupid for their beliefs. It is not for me to judge others.
  • No, they are a great people, and have a great culture.
  • I know many Muslims and all are great people - i have far more to fear from Christians than from Muslims
  • I have a relatively positive view of all people until they give me reason to believe otherwise.
  • Not at all and I've dealt with them in a major way. Unfortunately (as in all religions) there are a few lunatics that make them look bad.
  • Yes. Seems the couple in front are wearing large matching hats. Can't see a thing really.
  • Not at all, just because there are some crazy ones in the bunch does NOT mean they are all bad people :]
  • What I would say is that I don't feel fair to have a bad idea of people I don't even know, simply because of their beliefs or convictions. But it is also my citizen duty to defend mines by all legal and peaceful means as long as it is possible. So I always try - I know, it's not always as easy and I don't pretend to success each time - not to be negative to people, but to assert my point of view. I try not to be agressive with people but to discuss some of their opinions or beliefs when necessary. When it doesn't seem to be relevant or appropriate, I just ask some questions and I express doubts. And I really have doubts about any religious authority, at any time, that indulges in violence and warfare.
  • No I don't believe one bad apple can spoil the rest. Muslims are following their faith, all are not bad. There are some Muslims out there who just give others a bad name. Terrorists don't think with their heart and therefore they misinterpret the true meaning of their religion. All Muslims shouldn't have to suffer for the wrong doings of the ignorant.
  • Absolutely not. To stereotype a group of people is narrow-minded and unfair.
  • Muslims? No - they are people like the rest of us. Some nice, some not; some smart, some not; some assholes, some not. etc. . I do have a problem with Islam as a religion though. Well, I have a problem with all religion - it's simply untrue. But Islam, in particular, seems to fire its followers passions much more than other religions - and that is often a deaf (to anything non-Koran), idiotic and violent passion. One that makes issuing death threats for producing cartoons or novels seem godly and good; a passion that makes suicide bombing innocent strangers seem godly and good. . +5
  • No. I quite like Muslims. I do have a negative view of fundamentalist Muslims. But then I have a negative view of fundamentalists of any religious stripe.
  • Nope. I have a negative view of Muslim extremists but not all Muslims are extremists.
  • No, I don't. I know that there are terrorists and extremists who claim to be Muslim, but I'm not sure whether they are, any more than the Branch Davidians, Westboro Baptist Church members, or Christian Identity members can really be called Christians.
  • As to their ethnicity I do not have a negative view or feelings against Arabs, I reject the term Muslims but I have to know them well before they become my friends if ever. I have too much knowledge about Muslims and Islam therefore I know what I am saying. If I find out they are Islamic Militants/Extremists I will reject them without fear or shame. Islamic Extremist cause me disgust and fear, my husband was killed in Iraq at age 37, four months ago. Our absolute Western ignorance regarding Islam and what it is will bring us very much pain and tears in the future. There is no need for anyone to take my word on this subject if you are interested click on the enclosed link and listen. The video is about the Qur'am as it is analyzed and explained chapter by chapter by Islamic Scholars, what are their intentions, what are their goals and what are they expecting us to believe. They are allowed to lie in the name of Allah as long as the lies will allow them safe passage to our world and our lives. I am sorry if I have offended someone but I will not rest until I have spread this information to all those who want to know the truth. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-871902797772997781&ei=BQztSLKgJYGE_AGiicSjAw&q=what+the+west+needs+to+know+about+islam
  • YES EVER SINCE OBAMA AS A SENATOR MET WITH OSAMA BIN LADEN IN AFGANISTAN LAST YEAR WITHOUT BRINGING THE FUGEATIVE IN. ALSO OBAMA'S TRUE MUSLIM CHURCH WHEREAS IT DESCRIBES HIM AS CALIPH OF EARTH, THEN THE NEXT WEEK OBAMA IN FRONT OF THOUSANDS REFUSED TO PLEDGE HIS ALIGIANCE TO OUR AMERICAN FLAG. NOW DO YOU KNOW WHY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WERE BUYING OUT ALL THE GUN STORES.
  • No i don't, one of my best friends from work is Muslim, I think he has a heart of gold.
  • Yes, however to be fair I have a negative opinion about all religious people.
  • Even though I'm not from a huge city, I still had a number of Muslims and other Middle-Eastern cultures in my high school. A lot of the Muslims in my school were actually in the popular crowd, and I can only point to a handful of times when certain classmates came out with some racial slurs. For example... ON 9/11 (I was a freshman in high school), there was a lot of chaos in the school building, and we were all talking and debating during lunch. I remember myself saying, "Hey, they're probably going to have to evacuate NASA and Cape Canaveral," and other such things. Then, a classmate came out with "We should just kill all of those towelheads." Even then, before knowing the details of the attacks, I knew it was completely insensitive and idiotic to make such rash judgments. Especially since I'm Jewish, I already understood how wrong it was to think such ridiculous things. The second instance was in a sociology class, where the teacher asked the class a question (I don't remember what it was), and went around the room having everyone answer it. We came to one of the Muslim students, who was quite popular in our school, and after he gave his answer (I don't remember what the answer was either), one of the white girls in the class said "(sigh), he's just saying that because he's an Arab." Some of the other classmates didn't know how to react, some laughing nervously, but the teacher (who also happened to be Jewish), immediately reprimanded the girl for saying what she said. Of course, in other schools and other parts of the country, Muslims are facing way too much prejudice. I'm particularly angry with my own people for not learning from our experiences during the Holocaust.
  • nope I don't have a negative view of anyone
  • I am white and have recently become very good friends with many Muslims. Awesome people. I even have a crush on one of my Muslim friends
  • I have no negative views of any one person outright, regardless of faith, creed, or what have you. I do have a skecptical and apprehensive view of all religons and institutions. For instance I know many Americans that have parents born in Mexico; great people, great soldiers. However I am disgusted with the teachings and actions of MECha and this Aztlan non-sense. But there is no absolutely no way that I would associate a single "Mexican American" person to the "Aztlan" group ideal. Those associations require logical fallacies. For instance: Dick wants to kill Jack because Jack was born in America Jack has a negative view of Dick Dick is a Muslim However, Jane is also a Muslim Jack associates Dick with being a Muslim, associates Muslims as people who want to kill him (bad deductive reasoning), and therefore has a negative view of Jane The fallacy being that the fact that Jane wants to kill Jack have never been established, just assumed. Unfortunately, it is easier to behave as Jack did, so most people do.
  • No. I do not.
  • Yes, but because the one I am forced to deal with on a regular basis is a total jerk...he is the one bad apple, and has prejudiced me.
  • I have a problem with the fact that Islam teaches that every facet of life should be governed by Islamic law. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam#Religion_and_state
  • no why
  • I have a general negative view of any person who is a religious fanatic. I don't really care for the specific religion. Religions are a way of dividing people, so my view is based on the religions themselves, not the person.
  • No, and honestly, it sickens me to see people who do have a negative view of them.
  • No. I live in an area with a high percentage of Muslims. Some of them I count as friends. I have encountered Muslims who believe their religion dictates charity and compassion, who care for others, contribute to the local community and go out of their way to help people. I have also met adult Muslims who don't see fit to speak to me because I am a white woman, or young Muslims who are violent, in gangs etc. I have met young female Muslims who take their religion and adherence to it very seriously, covering their heads and faces. Others, who come to the library to meet boys or read mills and boon. There are wealthy and highly educated Muslims, who have studied their religion and others. There are highly literate Muslims who speak several languages and have integrated well into Western societies, and others who refuse to integrate - a bit like the British expats on the Spanish Costas. There are some earlier immigrants who look down on recent immigrants who bring no skills with them and make no effort to give back to the community. In other words, Muslims are like any other social group. They are not homogenous! Some are conservative, some are pro-modernisation. Some are generous and charitable, some are bigoted. They have their own problems with disaffected youth, just as non-Muslim communities do. On the whole I think the local Muslim population make a great contribution to my area. As for Islam worldwide, my feeling is that certain groups are getting more radicalised - especially in some countries. But again, Islam is a religion, just as Christianity is, that is open to individual interpretation. All Muslims, like all Christians, may read the same holy books, but not all take the same things from it. I am not prepared to dismiss or fear all Muslims, but evaluate them like anyone else on a personal basis.
  • Yes, but that's not my fault. Killing over 3000 of my compatriots is not the most effective PR campaign in the world.
  • Nope. The Muslim people I know are pretty much the most peaceful, most caring, most forgiving, most gentle, most appreciative, and most understanding people I know. I'd have to be crazy if I had a negative view of them.
  • I am Muslim and although I respect everyones right to an opinion, I just wanted to let everyone know that I myself, and all of my peers are very open, honest and caring people. Our non-Muslim friends are loved by us just as much as our Muslim friends. In my community, diversity is embraced and not feared. This holy month of Ramadan I have broken my fast at the end of the day with people from a few different religions and they find the experience of fasting and then charitable contribution very humbling and fulfilling. If you know what Muslim people stand for, true Muslim people, you have no reason to fear us. If you aren't really educated on Islam, ask questions. It is a Muslim's duty to explain our religion to anyone who has a question.
  • I don't persoanlly know any, how can I have a negative view of them?
  • i have a negative view of just the extremists of any religion.
  • yes i do
  • Only the ones that want to kill Jews or Christians. In addition, I have a negative view of Christians who think they are "holier than thou" or who depend on their religion for salvation...... I have a negative view of Jews, Christians and Muslims who beat their children.............do you see where I am going with this?
  • Some of them, it is an individual thing. I have a negative view of some Christians as well (although I consider myself one). Just because there are fanatics in a certain group, does not mean they are all fanatics.
  • No, never...religion, caste, community cannot be the basis for judging someone...we need to coonect with a person on an individual level... check out www.scriboz.com and http://scriboz.com/szblog
  • No....never...the orst thing is to generalize sumone based on religion, caste, community, or race....we need to interact on an individual basis... check out www.scriboz.com and http://scriboz.com/szblog
