I believe (correct me if this isn't the Gudo you're thinking of) that Gudo Wafu Nishijima IS a Zen Buddhist priest and teacher from Japan. He is noted for writing many books about Zen Buddhism as well as creating was is called the "Three theories and one reality" philosophy which is his interpretation of the Four Noble Truths.
You are the only AB member I know of who quizzes instead of asks. I enjoy it.
Gudo is a municipality in the district of Bellinzona in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.
