Yes. When skiing you can still move your legs independently, thus keeping your balance. On a snowbaord your feet are always on the same position on the board, you have to work harder with your upper body to steer and keep your balance.

i think its a preference for anyone. i skied for 5 years and snowboarded for 5 years and i think snowboarding was harder to learn but once u get past the basics its easier than skiing but as i said its really just dependent upon the person.

I was skiing for about 10 years, and I never really improved my skills although I went skiing almost every weekend. But after 4 days of snowboarding lessons I was able to do the easy slopes without any problems, and after the first year I did every slope. Now I'm in my 7th year of snowboarding and I can say that snowboarding is a lot easier that skiing, but as much fun!

One is really not harder than another. Well, I have to say that I think skiing really is a little bit harder, but not a whole lot. I live in Steamboat, so I have had the time to both ski and board. Here are some of the pros and cons that I have found in skiing and boarding: Skiing: Pro- *Getting on/off the lift is a lot easier *You don't need to worry about your edges until you get into more advanced skiing *Poles mean that it is harder to get stuck in bad positions *Poles also aid in balance *When skiing, you can stop on a dime Con- *It is a common misconception that having two things to balance on is better. WRONG. Two skis hinder your performance rather than enhance it. As a snowboarder and skiier, I find it easier to balance on a board than two independently moving objects. *You have to worry about skiis crossing (a rather big worry) *You have to worry about skiis sliding too far apart *When you fall, it is harder to get back up *In more advanced skiing, you worry about your edges just as much as a beginning snowboarder does. *Terrain park is generally harder for skis (ex: many boarders nail a small rail on their first time ever in the park. Not so for skiiers) *More lower body strenght required Boarding: Pro- *Only one thing to balance on- nothing to cross, spread apart, etc. *Easier to get up after falling *Falling Leaf: You can use this to get out of any nasty situation- almost. There really isn't a very effective technique for this in skiing. *Some terrain park tricks are very easy to land on the first attempt Con- *It's very easy to get stuck in long traverses *More upper body strength required *Edges are nasty from the beginning *Hard to get on/off lifts *Harder to stop quickly Also, the learning curves for the two sports are very different. In both sports, you reach a plateau when trying to go from blue runs into black and double diamond runs. In snowboarding, you generally cruise through the beginning terrain and reach this plateau earlier. In skiing, you reach it later. I have a snowboarding friend who told me that it takes several years to master skiing while only a season to get good at boarding. Something to be wary about when learning to board: often times, people rely solely on the falling leaf and then claim that they can do black runs. Not so. Anyone on their first day can do falling leaf down a black run. Falling leaf is not snowboarding. Pointing your board down the hill is. To sum this all up, both are equally as fun. I love boarding and skiing and I really don't care which is harder, because each require unique skills and talents. Also, the whole: skiiers and boarder don't get-along thing is pure B.S. Maybe back east it exists, but up here, no one cares. Just have fun doing whatever you're doing and try not to look like a moron.

No...I went snowboarding for my birthday one year...it was really really hard at first and my butt hurt for like a week...I kept falling but i got back up!! and i'm hoping that you do that too..but if you are determined go back to the slopes and keep trying! Also you could learn with a friend...thats what i did! it is soo much more fun! have someone help you!! it takes about 2 days to get down the basics and you will finally be able to cruise the slopes!! Good Luck

Snowboarding is hard to learn and easy to master and skiing is easy to learn and hard to master

It depends on really who you are. Maybe snowboarding is easier for you because you have better ballance...or skiing is easier for you because you can move your legs around easier. I am a skier and it is easy for me because i have done it almost all 14 years of my life. I also wakeboard and sometimes sandboard and skateboard soo maybe i could also snowboard....no no no.

Yes in most cases....Although my brother who has skateboarded for many years it was easier.....I have snowboarded for many years and most of the people who have skiied and switched to snowboarding agree it's more difficult. But a challenge is always fun!

Shouldn't this be in the adult section. ;+

It really all depends.
