Help answer this question below.

My PC has Windows ME and 256 MB of RAM. I am trying to reinstall Windows, but I get the error message "CONVENTIONAL MEMORY INADEQUATE." What can I do about this?

    To reinstall Windows, you have to *boot* from the installation Medium. It is not possible to reinstall Windows from inside Windows.

    conventional memory is to do with a small portion of memory reserved for DOS. The setup routine only looks at that portion to begin with - nothing to do with your total ram, which is plenty enough.

    I would think you would need to edit the autoconfig or config.sys to rem out all unnecessary lines (in fact, I wonder if you needed them at all after win 98). If you are not up to that, suggest you reformat the disk and start again, if the CD you are using will run on a clean drive.
