I think that eternal commitment scares everyone. It is a huge step signifying true love. It is also somewhat of a gamble. The ones that survive marriage are the ones that should be applauded.

I'm not scared of marriage per-se. The institution itself does not frighten me, nor does commitment to that institution. The OTHER PERSON in the marriage is the part that causes me trepidation.

I wasn't scared until I saw my future mother-in-law. My wife was worth it at the time but now I am starting to reconsider.

I am actually more afraid of becoming unmarried due to an illness or accident. It's taken 20 years to build up such a great relationship with my best friend. Wouldn't want to have to start from square one with someone else. I was engaged in February of 1985 and got married in May of 1986, I had plenty of time to get cold feet and back out, but the idea never entered my mind.

I'm more afraid of the un avoideble devorce that comes after getting married.
