it was a good idea, initially, but has become a crowded marketplace for alot of cheap junk
I think it's awesome. I'm always on there buying things and out of hundreds of transactions, i have only ever had one hassle :)
Horrible-right now. Seller ripped me off-sent parts missing. Ebay made him pay me back for price and original shipping. I got stuck with paying $26.99 for shipping back to him. It was his fault and I pay?
I won't be buying on Ebay for a very long time. No wonder they just layed off 25% or so of their Ebay work staff-people aren't using eBay, alot now.
It's pretty safe as long as you remain sane.
Some people get bidding frenzy and go on a massive spending spree.
Some people get stuck trying to sell stuff and end up with massive bills, 25c at a time.
Some sellers do try to swindle. It's criminal. Read feedback. There are procedures designed to help.
Apart from that it's fairly safe.
Haven't dealt with them in a few years, but the times I did buy things was a good experience.
Ebay is crap and a haven for petty criminals to do business and should go away tomorrow.
I usually look on ebay first for stuff. I can usually find things cheaper than if I went to the store to buy them. I also use http://www.bidearn.com to earn cashback as I buy to make the discount even bigger.
I've been an ebay member for years, I've had very good experiences, I can't think that I've ever really been burned, except for a bad ram chip once (which wasn't a big deal to me, 50% of it still worked and effectively still doubled the memory in the computer in question, which was just a little 486 laptop anyhow.)
I find EBay no riskier than any online seller. You have to take a look at seller ratings though. Someone selling a Ferrari for $100 who has made no prior sales on EBay is in almost all cases a kid trying his hand at scamming, and don't ever make payment to anyone by Western Union.
I'd strongly suggest you read the fine print on the payment side... You may find the odd unpleasant surprise...
I love ebay. I get all kinds of stuff real cheap, and only got screwed one time, and I have bought almost 100 things
Ive been thinking of this too, I want to have a garage sale but dont have the time or patience. lol! I say go for it!
I used to use eBay all the time. I never had a problem. I sold quite a bit of stuff, and bought a bit too. Overall it was a good experience.
Utterly *pathetic* customer support, ebay is chock full of poor quality Chinese knock-off copies of quality items and not much cheaper (if at all) than other better companies who sell brand new products and have a customer service department that actually does what it's supposed to do.
I haven't used ebay for months, and don't intend to until they deal with all of the cons and shoddy items.
I always had high regard for ebay but I have just had a sale overturned by Ebay which was grossly unfair. Basically the buyer changed his mind, lodged an appeal, won by very dubious means. Quite simply as a seller we are not protected and I will never sell on Ebay again as far as I am concerned they are incompetent and unethical and couldnt care less about its members.
It can be super great if you know what your doing! There are some tricks for paying as little as possible and if ur a good shoper you can end up with great stuff! I have a pair of wonderwoman boots from ebay and whenever I wear them I´m showered in complements all day =)
eBay is good, but not cheap enough. eBay charge to much to seller, seller pass the cost to buyer.
I think item on oztion (http://www.oztion.com.au/) is much cheaper, because seller's cost is cheaper on oztion.
Too expensive for delivery if you live in New Zealand like I do. So I use our local equivalent TradeMe. I've not gotten right into selling yet, although my Mother keeps telling me I should (to get rid of my hard-saved junk LoL), but have made some money-saving purchases over the past couple of years. It's great for cheap DVD's and Play Station games.

Great place for hard-to-find items.
