Citi sent me a letter indicating they will close my account because I have not used it in for a long time. My payments have been on time since I got the card. This is my oldest card at 8+ years. Can they do this even if it adversely affects my credit?

    Why would it adversely affect your credit?

    Sometimes banks do this for accounts that don't generate enough income for the bank. They don't like "parked" accounts, which generate costs (statements, accounting, etc) without revenue.
