  • this takes about 8 hours. remove freon from ac unit, go to the dealer, drain antifreeze. remove hoses, aluminum and rubber from the firewall under the hood, take out bolts and nuts around the area of the hoses there too. remove the dash, the entire dash! start at the top, taking out every screw and bolt, remove the stereo, guages, cup holder, ashtray, unplug all the wiring to the lighters and the heater/ac knobs. drop the steering column, take all the bolts and screws off of the dash, which connect it to the firewall, you are dropping back the whole dash frame, this is the big metal frame behind the dash. you then need to remove the wiring from the airbox behind the dash, pull that box out, sometimes you need to finesse it out. split it open, remove the cores, both the ac and heater. clean out the box, put the new core in and ac core. screw it back together. reinstall in the reverse. I did this job in 2 days, took 4 hours to remove, I then bolted the dash back up with just a few bolts, and put the guages in so I can get to work the next day. then on my next day off dropped it back down and reinstalled the heater/ac box, bolted it all up, reattached the lines and I was back in business. Total of aobut 8 hours to do this job. core is $78 at the dealer. remember if you want to drive it you need to loop the heater core line back to the water pump and refill the radiator.
