Help answer this question below.
I do...I'm a bit rusty but have ran the table before.
When I have a few drinks in me I can. I like to play the flipping Frat boys. Nothing like beating a momma's boy. When you're a good ole boy
Back in my misspent youth (mid '60s) I ran the table often. I was in a league at a time when pool was in transition to becoming a family sport. I have not played much over the past40-odd years, so it would take a LOT of practice to get back in form. ;-)
Running the table is a pool term, not billiards. That's another big green table with balls and sticks, but without pocket. I don't even have any idea how many times I've run the table in 8 or 9 ball. My record in 8 is 5 in a row, and that was finishing with a rack of bank the 8, and then bank the 8 to the pocket that your last ball went to. That was sometime around 1993.
I suck at it. But, my husband sure can run the table! He's great at it. :-D
I play pool, but not well enough to run the table. I have family members who can, however.
I do and I can. The ability to run the table is one of the hallmarks of a good player. The greatest players can consistently beat "the ghost" which means they can break the balls and run the table more than 50% of the time. Not nearly as easy as it sounds. To test your self see if you can throw three balls on the table and run them in order. If you do it then do four, and keep adding a ball each time you are successful. The best players can do about 10-12 consistently.
i am realy good at pool and i have run the table numerous times.
In college i have done this before, do i do it alot, no i dont, i am fairly decent at billiards, but a pro would smoke me quickly.
I run tables but it takes a lot of practice
Nope, I'd get smoked.
I used to be incredible at 8-ball when I was in college, and yes, I've run the table many times. Unfortunately, I don't play nearly as often as I used to, and I'm a bit rusty these days.
Yes I play, 6 out of 7 in APA. Give a 7 a decent start and he will run it. Give me more that one turn and I will run it, if not on the first go.
I run the tables on occasion.
I have done so only once in my life, and it was oh-so-perfect. After grabbing a ride into town with a person I wasn't incredibly fond of, he informed me that "before we go back, I just have to make a stop at my church real quick."
I wasn't terribly thrilled by the idea, but I said "Okay" and before long we pulled into the Bozeman, Montana Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I knew this guy was odd, but I wasn't aware he was Mormon-odd. He suggested it would be air-conditioned inside, so I followed, and he directed me to a pool table near the entrance that the youth group used. I began to play by myself as he went off. Time wore on, and periodically he would suggest I come and meet his friends, since some of them were playing Pictionary in a back room. I detected the ruse and said calmly, "I think I'll just shoot some pool while you do your thing."
I was later besieged by a bearded man who attempted to coax me into joining the Pictionary clan, but I smiled and politely refused. Annoyed, my "friend" appeared again and asked "don't you want to come and hang out?". I told him I'd prefer to play pool, and I offered him a game. He accepted. Cooly, I broke, sunk a couple balls, and for the first time in my life, I ran the table on him. I then said "Cool, can we go now?" and he begrudgingly agreed.
After a silent ride back home, we parted ways. I didn't speak to him much more after that...
I can run the table. I play in the APA every week. Check out my new blog http://runthetable.blogspot.com

I watch TV pool tournaments and the announcer sometimes says that the player shot a ball at "table speed." What does this term mean?

If the cue ball is too close to the rail, I use a flat open bridge on the wood rail gliding the stick across the top of my hand. Should I also glide the stick across the top of the rail cushion?
