You often hear about people on Halloween poisoning the candy and making children sick and stuff like this, but what do people get out of doing this?

It's mostly urban myth, from what I've been able to discover. I did some digging a couple of years ago after someone pointed a link to the topic at me. It turns out that the evidence for this phenomenon as a pattern is very weak. Sadly, all the links I followed and read then are long gone...

actually around here a few years ago they did find candy with needles in them.. sick I know. I think people are psychos and they just don't care.. it's like people with the mindset of serial killers.. it's fun for them. they have no respect for life and they love to see people being tortured and hurt. I think the same thing goes here. I group these people, animal abusers, child abusers, rapist, etc. all in one category. They just do NOT care

Not often anymore. Candies are wrapped better and parents check now. What they got out of it is the same thing people get from killing or hurting others I dont know exactly what that is but hopefully they get caught

Yes, I have heard of it. Is this a case of the stories out running the facts. Granted zero amount is acceptable but as to things to worry about, how much does anyone know this happening?

I've been hearing that since I was a kid, nearly forty years. But I read somewhere recently that it is urban legend and has never actually happened.

If you actually do you research, there was not one documented case of this happening. Dont take my word for it. Look it up.
