My laptop needs to go to the "doctor" for at least a week. Everything revolves around it - recording, email, research, advertising, etc... Should I bring it in now or after the new year?

Depending upon how messed up it is, I'd wait until January. People are distracted and rushed at this time of year. You'd have a better repair job when folks are less hectic. swabby

First, why does it need to go to the doctor, does it impair your ability to use it? Second, what will happen if it doesn't go to the doctor? thirdly, will you need to do more work before or after the new year? Only you know enough about the situation to make an informed decision At least back everything up, whatever you decide, just in case something goes wrong

I don't think it matters when you bring it in, but not a lot of work gets done during the week between Christmas and New Year's, so don't expect miracles. Before you send the laptop in though, make sure you make a backup of all that important data. The 'doctor' may not bother to salvage anything if the stuff on the hard drive needs some work.
