Always after I shower. Don't know if the hair or skin is softer, but it a lot easier after a hot shower. I will I could shave without looking. Then I'd shave while showering.

always after, i suppose you could during, but i don't have a mirror in the shower. a clean face is a must before shaving, plus showering helps moisten the hair on your face making for an easier shave...seems to work for me at least.

During! There's a big mirror in most Japanese showers for you to sit down in front of (yes you sit on a little plastic stool in a Japanese shower and scrub up in front of a mirror)so shower, shave, brush teeth and then when you're all squeaky clean, you get into the hot tub and soak. The thought of actually washing yourself in a bath is alien to them, and I totally agree, since all your doing is soaking in your own dirt and being coated with it again when you stand up.

I use an electric shaver and have found I have no irritation if I shave before the shower. If after, the room is too humid which causes the shaver to drag and irritate my skin. I have tried the battery powered wet/dry shavers in the shower...my skin was irritated afterwards.

i like to shave before so i can sit and see what i am shaving then transfer into the shower to wash my hair and all the shavings off.
