hmmm i'm not sure of any tests that measure turbidity but i do know of a industrial method used. It is part of an open system AKA Continuous Culture System, which is more commonly used for large scale fermentation. The process is called turbidostat and a detector in the system measures the turbidity and determines how much more nutrients needs to be added to maintain a constant growth rate for the culture.
