Help answer this question below.

Can someone help me write an equation, i DON'T want ANSWERS.

a car rental agency charges $13 per day plus 17 cents a mile to rent a car/ how far was the car driven if a one-day rental bill was 55.16?
is it 13+17m=55.16?

    'The Special One' is correct. Also this assumes that it's a 1-day rental. If not, a more accurate equation might be:

    13d + .17m = 55.16

    Close, but remember the daily rental is in dollars, and the milage in is cents :-)

    You got close, but realize that 17 cents is .17, and not 17. The $13 is a fixed cost (constant), so it never changes based on the miles driven.

    13+.17m = 55.16, solving for m will give you the miles driven (assuming there's no tax, extra gas charges, et cetera)
